Trashy Chic?
Sunday, June 7th, 2009I am going through a love-hate (more love) episode with this look. She’s gorgeous, modelesque and totally pulls it off. Jealous! I love the casual, laid back and cool-funky vibe but it looks kind of trashy at the same time. I am thinking Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. What I am trying to say is that most people can get away with it but with one wrong move the whole thing can look wrong. Now the big money question is: How can the average Jane (read: not model) pull this look off without looking like trailer trash? I consulted T to get a second opinion and he basically said that the girl can rock it because she’s gorgeous. Being the stubborn person that I am, I was not satisfied with his answer. So I came out with the following suggestions after scrutinizing her look. Some things to note about her that make it work: natural make up, neat hair, gorgeous shoes. And no you don’t have to be a Victoria’s Secret model in order to get away with this.

This look is so versatile. You can tweak a few things here and there to come up with your own unique twist but for a natural, classy look I suggest the following:
* dark denim mini skirt (frayed or hemmed, your call)

* a white tank or wife beater (<—wife beater???? why????)
Fab Basic Cami Forever 21 Canada $2.50 (Yes you read it correctly)

* Chunky or an off-the shoulder sweater, cardigan or pashmina shawl
* Anke boots (if you have thin ankles wedge sandals will work too)

Hair and Make up
* Healthy and super straight
* A clean palette, mascara, nude lips with or without gloss
