Luxury for Less: Portero.com
Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010I love designer bags and accessories but the price points for the items are super steep. I usually have to save up for quite a while.
So I am quite pleased that I found a site that sells premium, authentic, pre-owned luxury accessories. They also have a great collection of vintage items as well.
They carry all the big guns: Hermes, Chanel, Cartier, Rolex, Louis Vuitton, Fendi, Pucci, Balenciaga and many, many more!
I don’t mind buying things that are pre-owned from vintage shops or online. The only thing that I care about is authenticity.
From the website:
Portero’s Authenticity Pledge:
“We at Portero believe that buying luxury goods online should be straightforward, exciting, and simple. Portero’s mission is to be the leading trusted online source for authenticated, pristine & pre-owned, luxury Jewelry, Watches, Accessories, Fur, Art, and Fine Housewares. Portero verifies the authenticity of each item on our web site before it is listed, and we stand behind the authenticity of our items with a money-back guarantee. ”
“We determine authenticity by drawing on the experience of our in-house category specialists, by working with outside product experts, and in some cases by partnering with selected luxury brands and other leading luxury companies, such as Tourneau, the world’s largest luxury watch retailer.”
Some of the things that I liked:
Dolce and Gabbana Suede Pumps $233
Tiffany & Co Feather Collar Necklace $1,097
Gucci Cognac Leather Shoulder Bag $345

Miss Universe Chic–Ines Ligron’s High Fashion Touch!
Thursday, August 20th, 2009Miss Universe Chic–Ines Ligron’s High Fashion Touch!
I love watching the Miss Universe pageant and seeing the gorgeous contestants from all over the world. There are so many beautiful ladies from every ethnicity. My favourite segments are the national costume and evening gown. The bright colours and beautiful textures are oh-so-delicious. From the Miss Universe franchise, the Miss Universe Japan organization is of most interest to me. The Japanese are known for their innovation and creativity and Ines Ligron who is the current director of the franchise has made a name for herself as an industry trailblazer. She works closely with the finalists and brings out their personality and confidence. She has produced one winner and 3 semi-finalists this decade and has turned the Japanese franchise into a powerhouse. Natural beauties, confident personalities, great catwalks, fantastic wardrobes…her girls are FIERCE!
She’s taken the franchise and turned it into a high fashion, glamorous production. No tacky dance numbers and ugly wardrobe. Everything is first class. I love, love, love this year’s production. Ines and her team created a cabaret inspired theme from the musical Chicago complete with calendar and pin up shows and an opera singer! It was sooooo theatrical! A refreshing change from the usual pageant-patty productions.
The Cell Block Tango
Opera Divas
Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori in Gucci. She is the chicest and most fashionable Miss Universe ever. She started the whiplash gown trend that everyone is doing this year. I loved her wardrobe during her reign.
The Diva Miyako Miyazaki in 2003 who also set an evening gown (Celine?) trend. She had such a confident aura about her she strutted!
Pageant favourite Kurara Chibana in her samurai costume in 2006. She started the warrior trend in the national costume competition.
From fierce to elegant!
Hiroko Mima who was in the top 16 in 2008. I loved her hair makeover! Look at the texture and the blunt edges. If I had super straight hair I would request this style!
This year’s winner Emiri Miyasaka created some controversy with her national costume.
She sported an Old-Hollywood inspired, eco-friendly gown by Nicolas Felizola for the prelims and she will wear Gucci for the finals.
In her interactive blog Ines shares her experience with the girls and behind-the-scenes updates on the industry. Plus she chats with her readers
Get ready for fashion, beauty and glamour galore!
Ines Ligron’s style tips from stylishspot.com
Style tips:
Wear something that flatters your body. If you have nice legs, show them, if you have nice shoulders, show them.
Try to look healthy, don’t wear white or heavy foundation.
Wear happy colors but don’t look like a Christmas tree and over accessorize.
Keep it simple, but powerful. That still can create an impact.
Smokey eyes suit Asian girls.
Don’t think like everybody else. Show more of your personality. Don’t copy the fashions of popular idols. It’s important to develop your own personality.
The Miss Universe 2009 competition will air on August 23, at 9 pm on NBC (EST)
Good luck to all the constestants!

Fashionista: Miss Universe 2007 Riyo Mori
Wednesday, July 16th, 2008I am not really a big fan of pageant fashion. Most of the time it’s really tacky. Think big hair, thick make-up and 80’s style yuckiness. Last year, Miss Japan won the Miss Universe title and she is sooooo chica!!!! I was more of a Kurara Chibana fan but this girl is the most fashionable Miss U ever. She is being handled by Ines Ligron, one of the hottest national directors for Miss U. Gucci, Prada and Dolce OH MY!
She rocked Miss Universe 2008 in this fierce tux.
