QUEEN OF HEARTS

A Valentine’s Romance with West Queen West

Thursday February 11th from 6-9pm.

After last year’s roaring success the Queen of Hearts Stroll is back!

Valentines Day is nearly here and the shops along Queen West are heating things up!

Have some ‘refreshments’ and tour some of Toronto’s best boutiques.  When you complete the tour you will receive a gift package + discounts worth over $400, brought to you by a few special shops on Queen West.

Visit our 15 special shops (look for the attached poster in the window), mention the promotion and have a cocktail. You will receive the Queenof Hearts passport (provided at the first store on your stroll), get your passport stamped, and move on to the next boutique. Each shop has a special gift or promotion which you can receive once the passport is stamped by any 10 of the boutiques . Once the passport has ten stamps, it has a value of over $400 (valid until Feb 28, 2009). Not bad for a night of festive fun. Use the package for Valentine’s Day gifts or towards your own February frolicking.

The Queen of Hearts Boutiques are:

Greenshag, Cabaret, Simon Carter, Cat Tilt, Preloved, Tealish, The Spice Trader, Olive Pit, Ziliotto, Carte Blanche, Charlie, Robber, Heel Boy, Neat, and Type.

Pick up your passport at the first store you visit. Have a complimentary “refreshment”, get your passport stamped and stroll on down to the next store. A minimum of ten stamps entitles you to take part in the special offers going on at each location. Come early and take part in the 2nd Annual Queen of Hearts Stroll.

It’s worth hundreds of dollars in savings and giveaways!

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen in Toronto August 2009

I am so adding this in my fall look book. I love Mary Kate’s sateen robe and detailed slides. What a glamour puss! And Ashley is simply divine in simple chic!

The gals will be in MuchMusic today to chat about their line Elizabeth + James.

Christian Lacroix Couture Show 2009

I just wanted to share Christian Lacroix’s (maybe last) couture work for fall 2009. As you may all know, Lacroix is in need of a financial backer and I sincerely hope that someone will finance his works of art. Everyone who contributed to the show worked for free except for the 12 models. This is truly a collaboration of love, art and support for Lacroix. The collection is somber but nevertheless intricate, inspiring and beautiful.

Headline: OSCAR DE LA RENTA SLAMS MICHELLE OBAMA’S BUCKINGHAM OUTFIT AS MAJOR DESIGNERS FEEL IGNORED

I like the fact that Michelle Obama is wearing creations from up-and-coming designers and mass market brands like J-Crew.  Given the economic conditions, it’s quite appropriate. Plus, it makes her seem more real and down-to-earth. And who cares if she wore a sweater to see Queen Liz? She’s human and goes to the loo just like the rest of us mortals.

She may not be as chica as Carla Bruni-Sarkozy but she’s got a charm of her own….

I also think that down the road she will diversify and wear items from well established designers. In the meantime, I am curious to see what/who she’ll wear next. Banana Republic?
