Wednesday, November 4th, 2009{Style} Serena Van der Woodsen Fashion
For the past year I was on Team Blair’s side when it came to fashion and style. I’ve been catching up with the Gossip Girl episodes and I am slowly switching over to Team Serena. I love how their fashion sense is a reflection of their character’s personalities. Blair has a very ornate, lady like and elegant fashion sense whereas S has a more relaxed, carefree and chic style. It’s easy to imagine Serena rolling out of bed in the morning, hair all tousled putting on the first thing that she can get a hold of. But since she’s Serena, everything looks fabulous on her. Blair on the other hand spends hours planning and trying on potential outfits for the day. they both look great and I am having a hard time choosing a favourite.
But today the ball is in Serena’s court. I like how she wears simple pieces that have fantastic design. She’s not as embellished as Blair and she has a very laid back, minimalist, casual cool look about her.
I guess for now Team S is winning over Team B!
XOXO

GAP Tokyo Style
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009The GAP Tokyo Style
Back in high school The GAP was a pretty big deal. I remember loving the clothes and saving up money from my part-time job to buy clothes from there. I still go there to browse the pieces and I occasionally buy things if I see something that I like. It is still a place to go to for staple pieces. However, I feel as if I’ve outgrown the brand. I’ve gotten bored with it. I don’t stop by the window displays and covet the pieces like I used to back then. for me the label lost its luster after the whole, yellow-mellow year (early 2000?)—-Do you remember the commercials?
Anyhoot, I was browsing the blogsphere and I came upon Chuvaness‘ blog post on ther trip to Tokyo to view a showcase of GAP fashion. And WOWZA! I love how they styled the models with GAP clothes. It has taken the brand to another level. The styling, the layers, it’s all very fresh, cool, and contemporary but still very GAP. To quote directly:
“If you look at what we show tonight, which is the global collection I worked on, you’ll see it very slanted towards the Japanese market. We make it way more fashionable here than anywhere else in the world, because the Japanese you see on the street is way more fashionable. I get inspired every time I come here. There’s a whole new different sophistication you see in Tokyo. It’s the same Gap all over the world but a different way it’s presented.”
I don’t remember seeing window displays like this in Canada. This makes me want to seriously shop at the GAP again.
