T and I just had a wonderful dinner with Lorena and Lawrence (from Canada Adopts and Beccari Design) earlier this evening. They prepared a healthy and delicious salmon dinner topped off with a lemon tart and carrot cake with cream cheese frosting for dessert. Lorena is currently re-doing her kitchen and she has added the most interesting details. I think that the final output will be fantastic! I forgot to bring my camera so I can’t share the little touches that she added to the place. Oh well, next time!
This is the outfit that I wore. I bought everything on sale except for the dress.
{This is one of my favourite day dresses. It looks great with wide belt!}
{Vintage bag. I removed the handles. Price?…..$2.99!}
{I love these shoes.I love these shoes.I love these shoes.I love these shoes.}
I found a really old crochet-flower-patterned dress in my closet that I received from my mom a long time ago. The pearl necklace is from her as well. I have a bunch of pearl strands that I’ve received from my beautiful and stylish mom. Will post later.
I was at Costco last week and I bought a pair of marcasite mother of pearl earrings for $35 by Karen London. I am so in love with them and I’ve been wearing it almost every day. The Jewelry To Your Doorstep/Karen London kiosk at Costco carries the most prettiest precious stones and silver jewelry. Since it’s being sold at Costco, the prices are affordable. This weekend they will be at the Etobicoke location in Ontario. The company will be travelling across Costco locations in Canada this fall. I can’t really tell you the exact locations and dates because I’ve lost the piece of paper with all the information I’ve sent an email to the company and I’ll update once they respond. The jewelry is quite beautiful and it will perfect to give away as Christmas gifts!
The earrings that I bought is very similar to the picture excecpt that the size is smaller and the pearl has a pink hue to it. The earrings are so glam and I love how they’re simple enough for every day wear. I might go back for more this weekend.
I have been dying to wear a fascinator all summer and I had a chance to wear one at a wedding. I wanted to buy a ready-made version but it was too pricey. Some places were selling it for $100+ and for something that I will not use more than a couple of times, it was not worth it. It is actually cheaper to buy it online, the only problem is that you won’t be able to try it on.
Ophelie Hats carries a wide range of fascinators and their line can also be found in several locations on Queen West in Toronto.
In the end I decided to make my own. It was not too difficult to make. The only tricky part was manipulating the netting. To make the fascinator I bought a velvet head band, some feathers and a net veil and sewed everything together. I bought all my supplies from a bridal craft store. Total cost=$12
Here is a DIY video of how to make a fascinator 101. I think that the mini hat looks more elegant than a headband.
The picture below was taken at a friend’s wedding. I miss my long hair (sigh).

Miss Universe Japan 2oo9 Emiri Miyasaka in Versace with Stephen Daldry at the Tokyo premier of The Reader

I was at H&M last week to check out their summer sale. A lot of items have been marked down so go now before all the good stuff is gone. I came upon a beaded, shell pink dress that is kind of (a tiny bit) similar to the Versace number that I’ve been coveting. The H&M dress was $59.90 and they had one more size in xs. Loves it! I was so happy because the dress fits me really well and I was able to pull off the colour. I plan to wear this dress at least 5 times this summer. As for the shoes, I am thinking gold-toned or black? I am not so sure. I don’t really like the shoes that Emiri is wearing. The heels are nice but it tones down the glamour factor of the dress. What would you wear it with?
Here’s a test shot of moi with the dress. I’ll take another pic once I find a pair of shoes to wear.
H & M carries the most affordable line of trendy jewelry. It’s so much fun shopping for disposable accessories there because of the great selection and fabu prices. You can shop ’til you drop and not put a big dent in your wallet. I have never really bought earrings because I usually get an allergic reaction if I put anything else other than silver or gold. So I would always miss out on all the great styles. From time to time I would replace the ear hook with a silver or gold ear hook if I had an extra pair at home.
Usually, I would just scan the section with a heavy heart and walk away. However, yesterday I saw a pair of earrings that I had to have. I’ve been sort of coveting a certain pair for months but the voice in my head would always tell me not to get it for fear of scratching my ear lobes off due to a possible reaction. A girl called Nacira whom I met in Paris a couple of years back looked so awesome in a silver pair that I think about her every time I see a similar style. So I basically told the voice to shut up and let me have them earrings. So I bought them and here they are. Round, gold-toned with an ethnic feel to them. And they were just a little under $4.00. Sold!
I am wearing the earrings along with a dress from the Philippines that I received as a gift from my Uncle Tisot. If you ever visit the beautiful islands, you can get beautiful printed dresses from Divisoria for really, really good prices. In Toronto, Kensington Market is the best place to shop.
I hope that everyone had a great weekend! xoxo
(P.S Sorry for the choppy pics. I think that my camera is broken)
I just wanted to share this dress that I bought from Dynamite. It came in 2 colours, turquoise and brick-reddish/orange. It had an empire waist with a sash in the back.. The material is so soft and yummy. I wanted both colours but I chose the reddish/orange option. I paired it with brown wedges but it also worked with gold sandals or black heels.
Pleated Dress $38
I wore the dress to a birthday party. My friend D’s daughter recently turned 2. She was so cute and growing up so quickly! Happy birthday Trinity!
