{Fashion Inspiration} Little J
I am watching season 1 of Gossip Girl and I am seriously crushing on Jenny Humphrey’s purple headband. She paired the headband with a sparkly, cocktail dress of the same colour. As much as I would love to be all matchy-matchy I don’t think that I can pull off the exact look without looking like a 15 year old.
I was stumped for a while because I really wanted to recreate the look but I did not know how to execute it without looking like a cupcake. I suddenly remembered a good rule of thumb when it comes to fashion. When in doubt, contrast! Yep. For example, if you’re wearing a girly piece offset the look by pairing it with sleek pieces or masculine pieces. In this case, I was thinking of wearing the headband with a fitted, tailored jacket, skinny jeans and some killer heels. Tough meets nice.
To create an affordable version of Little J’s headband all you have to do is purchase a silk organza ribbon and attach a brooch to it. Tres simple. Jenny Humphrey is known for creating her own fashion and I love how the head band adds a romantic and feminine touch to a sophisticated outfit.
